History of computer technology

A computer is an electronic mechanical device designed for man’s mathematical and everyday needs. Stone Age people used their fingers to do mathematical work. They also made use of natural materials such as sticks and bone. You may have heard that the man who lived his life in the jungle gradually became more prosperous and invented a variety of tools to make his work easier and more efficient. History of computer technology.

The times when information and communication technology history is divided.

  1. Pre Mechanical ( Before 1450 )
  2. Mechanical (1450 – 1840)
  3. Electro-Mechanical (1840 – 1940)
  4. Electronic (1940 to present)

The Abacus

Abacus is a device used by the Chinese about 3000 BCE to facilitate man’s work. An Abacus is a basic foundation for the computer used today. some schools used mathematical principles such as abacus to perform primary education.

Adding Machine / Pascaline

In 1642, Bell Pascal invented a machine that facilitates mathematical calculations. This is called the additive machine. This can be done by adding and subtracting.

Step Reckoner

In 1674 the Pascaline machine was invented by the German scientist Goldfried Wilhelm Wiesen. Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division can do this. The concept of a punch card was used for this purpose.

Punch Card Concept

Frenchman Joseph Jacquard invented mechanical weaving around 1800 to facilitate his weaving. Perforated cards were used here.

Differential engine

In 1822, Charles Babbage outlined the format required for “the world’s first mechanical computer.” It’s called the Difference Engine.

Analytical Engine

The concept of perforation was the basis for the Analytical Machine developed by Charles Babbage in 1833. But, as he thought, the technical knowledge was not enough to make the machines. The analytical machine is unique in that it has the necessary tools to perform data input, processing, deposition, and output. This concept was later used for computers developed later. “He has crowned the father of the computer”.

The world’s first programmer

Charles Babbage’s Analytical Machine was developed by Mrs. Ada Augusta. Ada Augusta was hailed as the world’s first computer programmer. Later, the Ada computer language was created in her honor.

Electronic valve / Vaccum Tube

The invention of the electronic valve (vacuum tube) by Forrest in 1906 laid the foundation for modern computer technology.

Mark 1 machine

In 1937, Howard Aiken of Harvard University made a concerted effort to develop the concept of Charles Babbage. The specialty here was that a typewriter was attached to enter the data. They used holes to input data. This machine has been in use in the computer world for over 15 years.

The first general-purpose electronic digital computer

The ENIAC ( Electronic Numerical Integrator and Calculator ) machine, built-in 1946, is the first general-purpose electronic digital computer.

The first digital computer to use stored programs.

The EDVAC ( Electronic Discrete Variable Automatic Computer ) the machine, invented in 1949, was the first digital computer to use stored programs.

The birth of a transistor

With the birth of the transistor in 1947, the first generation of computers ended. Transistors (1940 – 1956) are second-generation computers. Before the invention of the transistor, computers used electronic valves. There was a lot of heat due to the heat burning and burning and burning. With the arrival of the transistor, this troublesome situation has subsided.

Transistors ( wikipedia.org )

Transistors are a semiconductor device that can be used as a diode and a switch. It can also be considered as a basic electrical circuit device used in computers, mobile phones, and all other electronic devices. Due to the speed and accuracy of the transistor, it is used for many purposes. For example, you can consider current, voltage changes, signal processing, and oscillation. Transistors are designed as internal components of a single package and integrated circuits. There are many such circuits in integrated circuits.

IC – Integrated circuits

With the advent of integrated circuits with transistors in 1964, the computer became smaller and cheaper and increased faster. These are the third generation of computers. Over time, electronic technology has evolved to produce silicon chips capable of performing thousands of integrated circuits. As a result, the following chips were created.

LSI – Large Scale Integration.
VLSL – Very Large Scale Integration.

At that time, microprocessors were developed with the technology of placing thousands of integrated circuits in a silicon chip. The speed and efficiency of computing were very high and thus the price and quantity decreased. The fourth-generation franchise was designed using graphical interfaces that make this computer user very attractive.
